Mr. Joeri Essed (1971) was born in Paramaribo, Suriname. He graduated from Amsterdam University (Vrije Universiteit) in 1998. He moved to Sint Maarten with his wife and first borne in the latter part of the year where he was admitted to the Bar in February 1999.

Since his admittance to the Bar, several firms on the island actively solicited to engage his services and approximately 6 months later he switched to another law firm on Sint Maarten where he practiced in several areas of mainly civil and commercial law. During that period he also worked for a period together with Roeland Zwanikken at the law firm.

On June 1st, 2005 Joeri started his own law firm and 17 months later, he joined forces with Roeland Zwanikken and Jelmer Snow to form ZwanikkenSnowEssed Attorneys at Law.
